Here at Oxenford State School, we teach the Japanese language to grades five and six.
These classes aim to not only give students practical and theoretical skills in communicating in Japanese, but also insight into the Japanese culture.
All lessons are in line with the national curriculum ACARA. Classroom lessons cover interesting topics such as designing an action hero and creating a children's storybook.
In LOTE we provide a platform for students to not only practise their fluency, but also have fun and entertain each other. For instance, the unit that focuses on the concept of game play gives students the opportunity to plan and
demonstrate a game activity in Japanese before classmates.
Threaded throughout the two-year program, students learn about the Japanese alphabets, everyday vocabulary, expressions, Japanese grammar and how to apply this knowledge to real life contexts.
